Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Governance
• In partnership with the Board, shape the strategic plan for the next phase of
growth and continuously assess operations to ensure success and continuous
improvement.
• Regularly and transparently communicate with the Board Chair and the Board
overall via written and verbal reports to keep them fully informed of all activities.

• Act as the primary point of contact for any advisory councils and committees.
Operational Excellence & Team Integration
• Oversee and manage all day-to-day aspects of the museum, including budget,
staff, operations, compliance, exhibits, and educational programming.
• Maintain a strong, cohesive, and diverse team. Lead staff in recruitment,
professional development, supervision, retention, and implementation of
kidSTREAM’s mission and strategy.
• Establish clear organizational structures and cross-functional work plans to
maximize internal collaboration and staff effectiveness.
• Provide an open, honest, and empowering environment that addresses staff needs
and keeps internal teams updated on relevant Board decisions.
• Cultivates an organizational culture of integrity, ensuring decisions and actions
align with kidSTREAM’s mission, values, legal obligations, and public trust.
Fundraising & Financial Stewardship
• Take a primary leadership role in major fundraising campaigns and grant activities,
significantly expanding the museum's long-term fundraising capacity and
cultivation of new funding sources.
• Identify, cultivate, and steward prospective individual, corporate, and foundational
donors, maintaining comprehensive records to protect organizational history.
• Provide excellent financial stewardship for all museum resources, build proper
and timely Annual Operating Budgets with the Executive Committee, address
compliance, and maintain community-focused transparency.
Community Engagement & External Relations
• Serve as the chief spokesperson and "face of the museum," ensuring kidSTREAM's
mission is consistently presented in a positive, impactful manner to stakeholders,
public figures, and the media.
• Be an active, visible member of the Ventura County arts, culture, and education
communities, maintaining a strong presence across regional settings.
• Nurture cross-sector collaborations with local and regional partners to drive
innovative programming and educational outreach, intentionally prioritizing access
for children and families from disadvantaged backgrounds.
• Oversee comprehensive marketing, PR, and community engagement plans
designed to stimulate museum attendance and promote broad volunteer
participation across all operations.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
• Executive leadership: Minimum of 3–5 years of executive or senior-level
leadership experience within a nonprofit organization, museum, or similar
community-centric institution. Candidates from other sectors with significant
experience leading complex mission-driven organizations, scaling operations, or
guiding institutional growth are encouraged to apply.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university (or
10 yrs. of nonprofit experience with increasing responsibility over time) preferred.
• Proven fundraising track record: Demonstrated success in donor cultivation,
stewardship, capital campaigns, and revenue generation within a philanthropic
landscape.
• Financial and Operational Acumen: Direct experience managing complex
organizational budgets, leading cross-functional personnel, and overseeing
operational logistics.

• Exceptional written, verbal, and public speaking communication skills, with an
innate ability to inspire diverse audiences.
• Models the highest standards of ethical conduct, transparency, and accountability

• Familiarity with medium-sized children’s museum frameworks is
highly desirable. Understanding Ventura County’s cultural,
educational, and philanthropic ecosystem is a plus,
though not a prerequisite.

Los Padres ForestWatch, one of the premier land and wildlife advocacy organizations along California’s central coast, is seeking a Land Stewardship Manager. The role is responsible for overseeing our 157-acre nature preserve and working with partners and volunteers to plan and execute habitat restoration and other field work throughout Los Padres National Forest.

Overview of the Role
The Land Stewardship Manager works closely with other team members to manage our new 157-acre nature preserve in the San Emigdio Mountains. Primary responsibilities include conducting plant and animal surveys, preparing and implementing a management plan, coordinating requests for public and tribal access, natural resources mapping and data collection, biological monitoring, assisting with the establishment of a conservation easement, and ensuring the long-term ecological health of the property.

The role also entails planning and executing habitat restoration projects on public lands throughout the region, in coordination with land management agencies, partners, and volunteers. These may include trash cleanups, invasive plant eradication, barbed wire fence removal, and rare plant and animal surveys.

The ideal candidate is rooted in the sciences with a background in natural resource management, has knowledge of and curiosity about local ecology, thrives on the interplay of field and office work, can work independently (sometimes in remote areas) and collectively as part of a team, and has excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, salaried position that is primarily remote and deeply connected to the communities MOA served. While flexibility for remote work is required, a consistent local presence is important. Candidates must be based within a reasonable driving range (including the greater Los Angeles area) and able to travel frequently within the region. Some evening and weekend work is required.
